2024 was a milestone year for McLean, marked by the release of two new singles and the formation of her all-star band, Linda McLean & The Awakening.
With a 70s-inspired vintage sound and influences ranging from Neil Young and Lucinda Williams to Blue Rodeo, the band has been selling out venues across McLean’s home province of Nova Scotia, Canada—including three back-to-back nights at Halifax’s premier music venue, The Carleton.
A new EP is in the works, with the first single, “Working It All Out,” set for release in May 2025.
Amid this creative resurgence, McLean also published a memoir, The Importance of Being Important, a deeply personal exploration of grief, healing, and the search for meaning. As a companion to the book, she released her fifth solo album, Songs for the Book—a raw, gutsy collection of songs echoing the memoir’s introspective themes. The first single, “Forgiven,” was written during a time of profound loss. It captures the emotional core of both the book and the album: To stand at the center of your life and know that only you can choose how to respond to what it brings.
A master storyteller in her prime, McLean’s live performances are part musical, part literary, and wholly soul-nourishing—she’s setting an abundant table, nurturing her audience one heart at a time.
